  • Buffalo Check: A Versatile Collection

    Posted on by Ashley Pinchev

Our newest collection, Buffalo Check, is incredibly versatile due to its oversized dimensions. The scarf itself is 33 inches wide by 78 inches in length and is our widest piece. All of our scarves are already designed to be longer than standard to accommodate additional methods for styling each piece. The extra width lends our Buffalo Check Collection to being both a scarf and a wrap! We've compiled style tips below to demonstrate the versatility and incredible style of these pieces.
    As a Scarf
When wrapped around the neck, the extra width gives our Buffalo Check scarves a beautiful drape at the front. The 100% Merino wool weave is warm without being itchy. Ideal for Fall!
    As a Wrap
The Buffalo Check collection can also be worn draped over the shoulders. At 33" wide, there is plenty of fabric to keep you warm and toasty on a chilly day.
Do you know the history of the Buffalo Check pattern? Our collection is a modern take on the classic American pattern. The red and black Buffalo Plaid originally seen throughout the American West dating back to the 1800s actually hails from Clan McGregor in Scotland. • Travel in Comfort & Style, Not Your PJs

The Ultimate Comfy Travel Outfit (that doesn't look like pajamas)

Just as our company mission statement conveys, we believe fashion should be both effortless and classic. When traveling long distances, this can sometimes be difficult to accomplish while also achieving the most important aspect of travelwear: COMFORT. Luckily, we've compiled the holy grail of travel attire that will leave you looking and feeling like a well seasoned travel pro!

My husband and I both love to travel. We've traveled to many different parts of the world, usually with just a carry-on suitcase no less, and one of the pre travel things I always dread is choosing the best outfit for the airplane. Over the years I've developed a rhythm and a science to packing for international travel and I'm excited to share it!

The Lo & Sons OMG bag is my absolute favorite international travel accessory. It has a strap to fit easily over the handle of your suitcase and all the right interior pockets for your essentials such as laptop, ipad, passports, wallets, and even separate pockets for spare flats!

As someone who isn't a fan of the constricting nature of denim, I tend to opt for a pair of comfortable leggings that are a bit more interesting than just a plain black. I love the moto inspired leggings by alo. They are cute, comfortable, and extra long which all tall girls will appreciate. I like to add a classic white t-shirt as my base top layer since it is so easy to mix and match with accessories. This one by Vince is made of quality fiber which is so important as no one wants a see through t-shirt!

Airplanes and airports are often over air-conditioned and completely freezing. Adding layers on top of your basic travel outfit is essential for keeping comfortable and cozy. Plus, you don't have to worry about packing these sometimes bulky items into your precious suitcase space.  Our lightweight collection is ideal for travel as it isn't too heavy and also doesn't wrinkle immediately. The wide design of this particular collection allows for it to be worn effortlessly as either a scarf or a wrap. It is an absolute vacation essential and perfect to cozy up in during a long flight. Adding a light jacket on top is another layering hack that is highly recommended.

You never know when you may need to sprint through the airport to make your connection! Traveling internationally in sensible shoes, such as these adorable Nike sneakers, is a smart and comfortable choice. The sneaks are practical and adorable making them easy to transition into your vacation wardrobe. Wearing them also saves even more space in that suitcase! Plus, you'll be ready to hit the ground running and explore your newest destination even if your hotel room isn't quite ready yet to change your clothes.

    Happy Travels!

  • How to Care for your Cashmere

    Posted on by Ashley Pinchev

The Complete Guide to Caring for your Cashmere

All wool materials have special properties unique to the specific type of fiber as well as the type of weave of the textile. One of the most iconic and recognizable woolen fibers is cashmere. Cashmere is a special material that, if cared for properly, will last for a very long time.

As with any natural fiber, it is imperative that you care for your cashmere carefully and with love in order to maximize its lifespan. A cashmere textile should last through countless seasons and wears if treated with care.

    Common Cashmere Issues Include:

    Pilling

We are conditioned to think that pilling is a sign of low quality; however, this simply isn't the case. Pilling is a natural characteristic of cashmere due to the long fibres in the material. Using a product such as a cashmere comb or sweater stone can easily remove the pills and leave your cashmere looking good as new! A cashmere comb is ideal for more delicate weaves while the sweater stone is best suited for heavier knits and blankets. We recommend purchasing your cashmere care products from The Laundress

    Creasing

The easiest way to remove fold lines and creases from your cashmere or knit textiles is by turning the piece inside out (if applicable) and ironing on the lowest setting. A clean, dry cloth should be placed between the iron and the cashmere to protect the textile. The iron should never come into direct contact with the wool fibers.

You can also use a handheld steamer on your cashmere but be sure to lay the piece flat to dry afterwards from any residual water from the steam.

    Stain Removal

All stains to your woven wool/cashmere pieces should be taken to a specialist for removal. Never attempt to spot clean yourself as it may damage the fibers and cause the stain to "set" into the fabric.

While many sources suggest that your cashmere good may be handwashed, all of our Worthington Corners collections are woven textiles, and hand washing a delicately woven piece can lead to irreparable damage.

    Storage Recommendations:

Never store your cashmere pieces on a hanger! Hanging a cashmere or wool garment can cause the fibers to stretch. When out of season, cashmere and wool textiles should be folded and placed in a breathable cotton bag and then stored in a cool, dry place. Preferably, in a spare room or top of a closet as opposed to under the bed. Placing a sheet of tissue paper between each piece also allows for any excess moisture to be absorbed.

Do not store wool in a plastic bag as wool is a natural fiber and needs to be able to breathe. The Laundress sells easy, zip-closure all purpose storage bags safe to for use with cashmere/wool or you can pick up natural cotton storage bags in various sizes from your local Container Store.

Pro Tip: Always add a few cedar wood balls to your cashmere storage. Cedar naturally prevents damage to your textiles from moths and mildew.

  • Exploring Carmel by the Sea

    Posted on by Ashley Pinchev

My husband and .I recently went on a long weekend getaway to the breathtakingly beautiful Carmel by the Sea. We stayed in a boutique hotel at the top of the hill overlooking the small city, cliff-sides, and ocean. It was a relaxing and romantic break from the daily grind that was so needed for us. We spent a Saturday exploring the quaint downtown area complete with a plethora of local boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants and even small cobblestone passageways reminiscent of an adorable European village.

We started our morning with a casual breakfast in a local coffee shop. I am passionate about supporting local small businesses and Carmel was the perfect place to do so. Roaming the streets and shops with a coffee in hand and my sweet husband by my side made for the perfect Saturday morning. We treated ourselves to lunch alfresco and an afternoon of wine tastings.

The weather in Carmel can vary from chilly to a slight breeze to a beautiful sunny afternoon. We certainly experienced a bit of each during our stay. I dressed for our outing by layering one of the Worthington Corners lightweight collection  scarves over a light blouse with flared jeans and wedges. Some of the streets are cobble and paver stone and the flat bottom of a wedge was much easier and comfortable on the uneven surfaces.

  • The Lightweight Collection is a Summer Essential in your Tote!

    Posted on by Ashley Pinchev

I recently wrote about how I like to utilize the scarves from our Lightweight Collection as a wonderful travel accessory. The same qualities that make this particular collection easily packable for travel also translate to keeping this scarf on hand in your purse or car as an effortless layering piece.

Texas summers are long and HOT! Though it is often stifling outside, the A/C is frequently overdone and frigid inside to make up for it. As someone who is easily chilled, I always take a pashmina or wrap with me to indoor dinners, events, or even just for shopping at the mall with friends. The 100% Merino Wool fabric of our lightweight collection does not easily wrinkle, is not heavy, and is not overly delicate or easy to snag like the silky fabric of a pashmina. It truly is my go-to for folding in my tote and taking with me for the day!
